Richard Mattingley is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee with a passion for helping people understand their past story, experience hope & healing, and develop a life of meaningful connection. With a person-centered approach, Richard's natural emphasis is to develop a relationship of trust where you feel truly known and loved in the middle of your journey onward.
With a background in Christian mental health ministry, Richard possesses a unique understanding of how a person's life experiences, spirituality, and relationships can lead to places of overwhelming anxiety, depression, and conflict. Richard will walk with you as a compassionate and gracious listener to truly understand your story and where you would like to heal and grow. Richard's empathetic presence helps him build trust and foster healing in the places of greatest pain.
Richard believes that a process of healing and transformation takes places when a person can experience being known and loved in the middle of their heartache, confusion, and overwhelming circumstances. It is then that a person can discover their true self and begin the experiencing a life of meaningful connection to themself and others.
Richard's approach is creative and customized per client, focusing on what truly matters to each individual, couple, or family. Richard's foundational approach will include developing your identity, purpose, and belonging as a means to flourishing in life.
Currently pursuing his master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Azusa Pacific University, as well as serving as coaching director at Share the Struggle, Richard brings a blend of academic knowledge, personal experience, and practical application to his therapeutic approach.
