Theoretical Background
Candace is a Journeys Counseling Ministry trainee who is completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. Her counseling approach is integrative, drawing from multiple evidence-based theories to provide individualized care. Candace incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, while Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) supports emotional regulation and present-moment awareness.

Candace’s work is also informed by humanistic and experiential approaches, including Gestalt Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasize self-compassion, meaning-making, values-based living, and present-moment awareness. Gestalt Therapy, in particular, encourages clients to explore their emotions, behaviors, and thought patterns as they unfold in the present, fostering deeper self-awareness and personal growth.

Candace takes a trauma-informed perspective when necessary and is currently receiving training in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to help clients foster healthier relationships and emotional expression. Additionally, for those who seek it, she offers faith-based integration, incorporating spiritual values into the healing process.

Above all, Candace’s goal is to create a collaborative, client-centered environment where individuals feel safe to explore their emotions, thoughts, and life experiences in a way that fosters growth, resilience, and lasting change.

Client Benefits
Candace’s approach is centered around compassion, growth, and empowerment. Through personalized counseling sessions, she works collaboratively with clients to explore their unique journey, helping them build resilience, discover their inner wisdom, and develop the skills to thrive.

Candace focuses on fostering emotional wellness, strengthening communication, and supporting personal growth—equipping clients with the tools they need to take charge of their journey, to learn, heal, and grow.

The path to healing can be complex, but no one has to walk it alone. With a blend of evidence-based techniques, warm guidance, and value-aligned support, Candace is here to help clients move forward with clarity, confidence, and hope.

Personal Interests
Life keeps Candace on her toes—in the best way! She’s a proud mom and wife, balancing studies with family life and a love for creativity. When not diving into coursework, you’ll likely find Candace expressing herself through writing, drawing, or singing—she loves letting her creativity flow.

As a lifelong learner, Candace is always excited to explore new skills. Currently, she’s learning to code, solving Rubik’s cubes for fun, and staying active through exercise. She also finds peace in nature, whether it’s spending time at the beach, relaxing by the pool, or simply enjoying the fresh air. As much as she loves staying busy, Candace is definitely a homebody at heart—sometimes, doing nothing at home is pure heaven!

Personal growth is a big part of Candace’s journey, and she enjoys exploring holistic health practices that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. She also has a deep passion for giving back, especially through volunteering with children at her church. Being part of their growth and helping them learn, heal, and feel supported is incredibly rewarding
.
Above all, Candace strives to create a safe, nurturing space for everyone she works with—whether that’s her clients, her family, or her community.
