Susan is a Master of Social Work student completing her advanced internship with Journeys Counseling Ministry. She brings many years of experience in the field of child welfare, where she has worked alongside children, adults, and families navigating difficult and often life-changing circumstances within the foster care/adoption system. Through this work, Susan has developed a deep appreciation for the importance of relationships, resilience, and having a safe place to process the challenges that life can bring.

Susan approaches counseling from a compassionate, strengths-based perspective. She believes people have a tremendous capacity for healing and growth when they feel genuinely heard, supported, and accepted. Her desire is to create a counseling environment where clients can be honest about their struggles without fear of judgment while working toward greater emotional well-being, healthier relationships, and meaningful change.

As a Christian, Susan values the connection between emotional and spiritual well-being. For clients who desire it, she welcomes the opportunity to incorporate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process while also respecting each client’s individual beliefs, experiences, and goals.

Outside of her professional and academic work, Susan values her faith and spending time with her husband of 28 years, Tommy and their three grown children.
