Title

Trainee

Degree

M.A. Clinical Psychology, Pepperdine University (in progress); B.A. Industrial Organizational Psychology, Point Loma Nazarene University

About

Marissa is a Journeys Counseling Ministry Trainee currently completing her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. She provides counseling services under supervision and is available for both in-person and virtual sessions. She enjoys working with pre-teens, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, and periods of feeling stuck or disconnected.

Marissa takes a warm, collaborative, and whole-person approach to therapy. She draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also helping clients explore how past experiences, relationships, and patterns may be influencing the way they think, feel, and respond today. Her Christian faith is an important part of her own life and shapes her belief in the inherent worth, dignity, and value of each person. For clients who desire it, she welcomes the integration of faith and spirituality into the counseling process while meeting each client where they are.

Outside of the therapy room, Marissa enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and three children, reading, and exploring the connection between our environments and emotional well-being.
