Chris is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and is the director/supervisor of Journeys Counseling South Bay.  Chris earned his Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University, and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University. 

After completing his graduate work, Chris spent over 5 years working with high-acuity patients in a psychiatric hospital gaining experience with issues ranging from addiction, to severe depression and psychosis. Chris has been with Journeys Counseling since 2008, and enjoys working with individuals, couples, and adolescents who are seeking to have a deeper understanding of who they are, and why, as they learn how to draw closer to self and others.  Chris is also an adjunct professor in the psychology department at a Christian university and has been involved in multiple levels of ministry, currently serving as an elder and teacher at his church in Palos Verdes.

Melanie is a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Audio Video production with a minor in Religion from Belmont University. She is currently earning her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.

Melanie has over 16 years of experience working with teens in a youth ministry setting and has experience working with the elderly as well. She also has 15 years of experience in the Television industry.

Mallorie is a Marriage & Family Therapist trainee. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Marketing Communication from Pepperdine University. She decided to continue her education at Pepperdine, and is currently finishing her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology.

Mallorie has experience working with children of special needs, adults, and couples. Her humanistic approach to therapy emphasizes the person’s ability to draw from their own personal instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment within themselves.

Meghan is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor practicing in the South Bay Journeys office.  She earned her Master of Arts in Community Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida.

Meghan has experience serving adolescents and adults in a variety of behavioral health settings including schools, crisis and trauma centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient counseling centers. Areas of interest include adolescence and the family dynamic, particularly in regards to communication, identity, and emotional issues. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. Her desire is for all of her clients to find hope, healing, and strength through therapy.

Leyla is an MFT intern and graduated with her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology at CSULA. Leyla works with couples, individuals and families. 

Areas of focus: crisis managment, anxiety, depression, parenting/adolescent development, life phase transitions and grief. 

Leyla's community affiliations include facilitiating depression groups at her church, working with the developmentally disabled, water provision trips to Costa Rica and Haiti, and participating in service days for LA Neighborhood Land Trust and Sharefest Community Development.

Hakeem is a Marriage & Family Therapist trainee and is currently earning his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Hakeem graduated from UC Santa Barbara earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and in Sociology.

Hakeem has over five years experience working with at risk youth ages 5 to 17. He has also worked with individuals with developmental needs, administering speech therapy, physical therapy and enhancing socialization skills.
